This privacy policy explains how Pleet LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the New Balls mobile application (on iOS, Android, or any other platform where it is available) and the opennewballs.com website (together, the “Service”).
We wrote this policy in plain English because we want you to actually read it. If something is unclear, email us and we’ll explain it.
What We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any contact information you choose to provide (such as a phone number). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a name and email address from that service.
Team and roster information. Captains create teams, add players, build schedules, assign lineups, and record match scores. This information is stored so the team can function. Players can update their own availability and sign up as substitutes.
Contact information shared within teams. When you join a team, your name and contact information become visible to your team captain and, depending on the captain’s settings, to other team members. This is how teammates coordinate matches, schedules, and availability. By creating an account and joining a team, you consent to this sharing.
Captain-created records. Captains may create player records for people who have not yet created their own account. These records (name, contact info, match history) are created and managed by the captain as part of their team administration.
Payment contact information. Captains may choose to share their payment account details (such as a Venmo username, Zelle address, or similar payment handle) with their team for the purpose of collecting team dues or match fees. This information is entered voluntarily by the captain, stored alongside team data, and visible to team members. We do not process, facilitate, or verify any financial transactions between captains and players. Any payments made between users occur entirely outside the app through third-party payment services.
Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, depending on your device. We do not collect, see, or store your credit card number or payment details. The app store shares a transaction confirmation with us so we can activate your subscription.
Email list. If you sign up on opennewballs.com to receive information about the app, we collect your email address for that purpose.
Usage and diagnostic data. We may collect anonymous usage data (such as which features are used, crash reports, and app performance metrics) to improve the Service. This data is not linked to your identity.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the Service — create accounts, manage teams, display rosters, record scores, and facilitate team coordination.
- Enable team communication — allow captains and players to contact each other regarding matches, schedules, and availability.
- Process subscriptions — verify and manage paid features through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Send you important updates — service announcements, security alerts, and changes to this policy.
- Send product updates — occasional emails about new features or improvements. You can opt out of these at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
- Improve the Service — analyze anonymous usage patterns, diagnose technical problems, and fix bugs.
- Respond to your requests — answer questions and provide support.
How Information Is Shared
Within your team. Your name and contact information are shared with your captain and teammates so your team can coordinate. Match scores, lineups, and availability are visible to team members. This is the core function of the app.
Team communications. When a captain sends a message to team members through the app (such as match notifications, schedule updates, or availability requests), the message is sent using the captain’s own email or phone via the device’s native compose interface. The captain is the sender, not us. We do not send these messages on the captain’s behalf and do not store the content of these messages. In the future, we may offer server-side messaging, in which case team emails would be sent by an email service provider on the captain’s behalf and would include an unsubscribe link and our mailing address as required by law. We will update this policy before making that change.
Service providers. We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — handles sign-in and account security.
- Firebase Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) — stores team, roster, schedule, and score data.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google LLC) — may be used to collect anonymous usage and crash data to help us improve the app.
- Apple App Store (Apple Inc.) and Google Play (Google LLC) — process subscription payments.
- Email service provider — we may use a third-party email service to deliver product update emails and pre-launch notifications. If we do, that provider will have access to your email address solely for the purpose of delivering those messages on our behalf.
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. Apple’s privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy. Google Play’s terms are available at play.google.com/about/privacy-security-deception.
Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore, which uses Google Cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including secure authentication, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access controls.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
Access and update your information. You can view and update your profile information within the app at any time.
Delete your account. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at privacy@pleet.life. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal profile information (name, email, contact details) within 30 days. However, team records that you contributed to — such as match scores, lineup history, and schedule data — are shared team data and will remain as part of the team’s history. Your name in those records may be anonymized or retained at the captain’s discretion, since this data was created collaboratively.
Captain account deletion. If you are a team captain and wish to delete your account, we strongly encourage you to first designate a co-captain or transfer team ownership so your team’s data and operations can continue. When a captain’s account is deleted, the captain’s personal profile information is removed within 30 days. Team data (rosters, schedules, scores, and player records created by the captain) will be retained and transferred to the new captain. If no successor captain is designated, the team data will be archived for 90 days and then permanently deleted.
Captain-created records. If a captain created a record for you and you never created your own account, that record belongs to the captain’s team data. Contact the captain directly to request changes or removal.
Opt out of marketing emails. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at privacy@pleet.life to opt out. We will still send you essential service communications (such as security alerts or changes to this policy).
Data portability. You may request a copy of your personal data by emailing privacy@pleet.life. We will provide it in a commonly used format within 30 days.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@pleet.life and we will promptly delete it.
Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal profile data within 30 days, as described above.
Email addresses collected through opennewballs.com will be migrated to our regular mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
Anonymous usage and diagnostic data may be retained indefinitely in aggregate form.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if we have your email address) or by posting a notice in the app before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
